A FAMILY LEGACY

Building runs in Paul's blood. Both his grandfather and great-grandfather were builders, working under the name Craftsman Homes — and Pacific Craftsman carries that name forward as a tribute to their legacy of building homes by hand. Paul still owns their tools, some dating back to the early 1900s, and the standard those tools represent — honest materials, careful joinery, work you can stand behind for generations — is the standard he builds to today.

WHERE IT STARTED

Paul's building career began in high school, when he spent a full school year building two homes for Habitat for Humanity — digging the foundations, framing the walls, running the trim, and passing every inspection. He's understood homes from the ground up ever since.

 He went on to spend more than 15 years with major home builders, where he helped construct over 400 homes and two golf-course communities — taking raw land through site development, infrastructure, and construction to finished neighborhoods.

 Paul was later brought on by other major builders for his framing and structural expertise on demanding projects, including Street of Dreams showcase homes and custom residences for high-profile clients. His work spans every scale: from a 250-square-foot cabin in remote Alaska to a 16,000-square-foot, five-story mansion.

 Paul's passion is the technical work other contractors walk away from. He once replaced every structural beam in a four-story home — while the residents kept living on the upper two floors. He built a fully self-supported, off-grid 4,200-square-foot home 120 miles from the nearest town, with no roads to the site. Solving problems like these is what built his reputation. 

 After more than 15 years away building his career, Paul came home to North Idaho — trading the pace of the big cities for the mountains, lakes, and small-town friendliness he'd been missing. He returned to live the way his clients want to live, and to build the homes that make it possible.

That range of experience — three generations of hand-built craftsmanship, from entry-level framing to some of the most demanding structural and off-grid builds a residential contractor can take on — is what Pacific Craftsman brings to every North Idaho project, especially the acreage, rural, and technically challenging sites that make this region unique.
